Special Tribute to FINIS, Inc.
The David Andrew “Pooh” Maddan Foundation wishes to pay a special tribute to one of its most ardent supporters, FINIS, Inc., the swimming technology company, and to John Mix, President of FINIS. David Maddan, in whose memory the Foundation is named, had worked in sales at the headquarters of FINIS located in Livermore, California.
When the Foundation was formed, FINIS wanted to do its part to help keep Dave’s legacy alive. At that time, FINIS was designing the cutting edge Aqua Pulse Heart Monitor. John Mix advised the Foundation that he planned to dedicate the Aqua Pulse to the memory of David when the heart monitor was released.
FINIS did dedicate the Aqua Pulse to Pooh’s memory and included on its website a promise that a portion of all Aqua Pulse sales would be donated to the Foundation. The FINIS website even includes a direct link to the Foundation website.
In addition, FINIS has increased its contribution to the mission of the Foundation by contributing a portion of all its sales for its Pink Snorkel. FINIS further supports the DAM-Cancer Golf Classic fundraiser each year by donating swimming technology equipment and other swimming equipment to the Dinner Event Silent Auction.
Although a photograph of David hangs in the FINIS headquarters in his memory, FINIS honors Dave’s legacy most by its dedication of the Aqua Pulse and its continuing contributions to the Foundation from the sales of the Aqua Pulse and the Pink Snorkel. The Board of Directors of the Foundation expresses its sincere appreciation to FINIS for its spirit of generosity and for assisting the Foundation to make David’s dream a reality.
3rd Annual DAM-Cancer Golf Tournament
The 3rd Annual DAM-Cancer Golf Classic and Dinner was an overwhelming success. Our golfers teed off under a gorgeous blue sky and the day was capped off by a sold-out dinner. Thanks to our many supporters we realized a net profit that day of $40,000 – ALL of which will go directly towards providing financial assistance to young adults battling cancer.
We had a record number of sponsors, an unbelievable silent auction, our first-ever live auction, and fabulous opportunity drawing prizes ALL of which contributed to the greatest golf tournament the DAPM Foundation has hosted yet!

Since Our Inception…
The David Andrew “Pooh” Maddan Foundation has become a leading non-profit organization assisting young adults battling cancer. In just over two years, the Foundation has been granted its 501(c)(3) public charity status and has raised over $200,000 through the generosity of our donors and the hard work of many of David’s friends. We have provided financial grants to more than fifty young adults to support them in their fight against cancer and we are receiving more requests for aid every day.
About our Financial Support:
Many people, inspired by Pooh’s courageous battle, have held their own mini-fundraisers to contribute to the Foundation. Their support markets the Foundation at a grass roots level and allows us to network with people who would otherwise be out of reach. In addition, the DAM-Cancer Foundation has held its own annual major Fundraiser, a golf tournament and dinner with silent auction and opportunity drawings at the Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco.
